This is a super opportunity for a commercially minded litigation solicitor to get their foot in-house working for one of the most well-known household brands in the area.
The in-house legal team comprises of a department of solicitors covering: Property, Commercial, Employment and Litigation. The team reports to their General Counsel, who manages all complex litigious, commercial and corporate matters. This specific FTC role will temporarily replace the current Commercial Litigator who is due on maternity leave late Autumn.
There will be a chance to cover a handover, however there will be supervision provided by the GC to ensure the smooth transition.
THE ROLE AND REQUIREMENTS:
The role of Commercial litigation solicitor will involve dealing with a broad diet of contentious matters relating to the business; this will include commercial contract disputes, property disputes, procurement disputes, insurance matters etc.
An added element to the role will include non-contentious commercial matters, assisting the companys General Counsel on commercial contract matters relating to suppliers, procurement, IT and other such areas.
You will be:
· UK Qualified Solicitor OR an experienced Legal Executive
· Strong academics
· A desire to enter into an in-house role
· A genuine interest in both litigious and non-contentious commercial work
· Able to work as a team and autonomously
· Able to communicate effectively with colleagues not just within the legal function but elsewhere within the business
· Work on multiple matters at any one time
This is a super opportunity for a professional locum who has a strong commercial background; it would also suit a candidate due to return to work after maternity / paternity leave who wishes to work with a leading UK brand. Those who are looking at entering into an in-house role from Private Practice should be aware that this is a fixed term contract, and will provide sound in-house experience for a limited amount of time.
